The Cunning Bats

A long time ago, a group of birds fell into a serious dispute with the animals in the matter of electing the king of the jungle. The animals proposed for a giant lion for the crown, while the birds insisted on granting the kingship to a jumbo hawk. Seeing this, the cunning bats provoked both the groups. When the bats approached the animals, they accepted the lion as the king, and before the birds they firmly supported the hawk. There was no consensus between them, and finally the dispute resulted in a massive war.

As the war commenced, the birds seemed to attain victory and the bats cheered for the birds. The animals were very disappointed about the position of the bats. But, after a short period of struggle, the animals exhibited their superb skills of war and dominated the birds. Immediately, those cunning bats sided with the animals. This made the birds very irritated with the bats.

After a long struggle and no victory of any group, the birds and the animals decided to hold a peace talk and settle the conflict. They were soon in the peaceful course of understanding and friendship. Now, the bats went to the birds and said, “We’ve wings and we belong to the birds’ family.” But the birds rejected them, “No, you do not lay eggs. You’re animals. Go to the animals.” The bats moved to the animals and said, “We are animals. We give birth to babies and do not lay eggs.” However, the animals dismissed them and answered, “No animals have wings. You must join the birds.” In the end, the bats were neglected by all because of their disloyalty.
