What is a Sentence?
A sentence is a grammatical unit that expresses a complete thought or idea. It typically consists of a subject (a noun or pronoun that performs the action) and a predicate (a verb or verb phrase that describes the action).
A sentence can be a simple sentence consisting of just one independent clause, or it can be a compound or complex sentence consisting of multiple clauses connected by conjunctions or other punctuation marks. Sentences can be declarative (making a statement), interrogative (asking a question), imperative (giving a command), or exclamatory (expressing strong emotion).
Sentence = Subject (actor) + Predicate (action)
Example: I eat rice.
SUBJECT | PREDICATE |
I | eat + rice |
pronoun | verb + noun |
S (subject) | V (verb) + O (object) |
